Steph Morris, photo by Howard Mollet

Steph Morris was born in Sheffield, UK, and grew up in the midlands and south London. He studied fine art at Goldsmiths’ College in London, which was a cool thing to do at the time, followed this up with an MA in art history at Chelsea, but then turned to writing, first fiction, then poetry.

At the start of the current millennium he moved to Berlin, which was also a cool move as London was killing him. It also led to him working as a translator. He now divides his time between writing and translating, and between London, Berlin and Andalucía.

Aside from literary activity, Steph has also worked as a DJ, social-worker and gardener, and voluntarily with various social, cultural and political projects.

He doesn’t exactly have time for hobbies, rarely watches television, but when time allows he likes cycling, climbing, singing and, of course, reading books. He still sometimes creates visual art, usually collages, but also photography - see elsewhere on this site.
